Prayers in a Time of Flood

We are all invited to pray with our hearts and hands as Northwestern Minnesota and the Dakotas face continued threat of flooding.

Church World Service Response

CWS Emergency Response Specialist Bryan Crousore is monitoring the situation and remains in contact with federal, state and local officials, and voluntary agencies.  Read the daily situation report at http://tiny.cc/Rc57m.

In addition, CWS anticipates providing material resources (flood buckets, hygiene kits, health kits, blankets, etc.) to help meet emergency needs in this flood event. Churches with potential storage space within the region can contact Deb Braun at dbraun@churchworldservice.org or 1-888-297-2767.

Lutheran Disaster Response

Lutheran Disaster Response organizes volunteers for immediate and long-term response to flooded areas.  Find out about volunteer opportunities at www.lssmn.org/disaster.  Lutheran Disaster Response prepared this bulletin insert for congregations.

United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (www.umcor.org) is standing by to assist affected areas.  Consider preparing cleaning buckets. Visit http://new.gbgm-umc.org/umcor/getconnected/supplies/flood-bucket for information.

Other Denominational Disaster Response

Find your denomination’s disaster response group through mnvoad.org.  All disaster response groups are coordinated through Minnesota Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (MN VOAD).

Donate

Help make sure the faith community is ready to respond by making a gift to your denominational disaster response group or Church World Service. Read this testimony from a pastor about the value of cash gifts.
