A Minnesota Without Poverty is a statewide, ecumenical, interfaith movement to end poverty in Minnesota by 2020 and recently became a program of Minnesota Council of Churches. If you would like to work toward the vision of ending poverty in Minnesota, please consider volunteering for one of these opportunities:
- Add your name to the 5000-plus people of faith who have signed a declaration of support for “A Common Foundation: Shared Principles for Work on Overcoming Poverty.” (This was the document that 35 religious leaders in Minnesota signed in 2004.) To add your name, go to www.mnwithoutpoverty.org and click on “Sign Foundation.”
- Data Entry—The email roster for A Minnesota Without Poverty is critical for building a movement to end poverty. This roster includes all who have signed on to “A Common Foundation.” A volunteer is needed to add contact information to this growing data base.
- Workgroups—Five workgroups are leading the way in various aspects of building the movement to end poverty. All of the workgroups are active and would welcome additional interested people:
- Arts and Education Workgroup
- Child Well-being Workgroup
- Business Workgroup
- Legislative Workgroup
- Media Workgroup
For further information regarding any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact Nancy Maeker, acting director for A Minnesota Without Poverty (nancy.maeker@mnchurches.org).
