Educating the 1.2 million members of the more than 2,000 Protestant, Orthodox, and Historic Black Church congregations has been a hallmark of the Minnesota Council of Churches throughout our more than 150 years. Stemming back to our predecessor organization, the Minnesota Sunday School Movement, when churches came together to establish a Sunday School Movement by bringing Harriet Bishop to Minnesota, the Council has sought ways to keep our constituents informed and active.
While all of the Council’s programs and ministries involve an aspect of education, and most include some form of advocacy, there are two areas where we are actively engaged in educating our constituents so that they will take decisive action in the public policy arena.
