The Tapestry Project, a fun and interactive program building social connectedness among diverse neighbors in the Mankato area. Each year in the fall and spring, MCC Mankato Refugee Services partners with the City of North Mankato, City of Mankato, and Mankato Area Public Schools Adult Basic Education program to host a gathering of local community members to engage in cross-cultural conversations, mutual learning activities, and sharing of life experiences.
The Tapestry Project is designed for anyone who may have an interest in engaging with their immigrant neighbors. The class takes place over six nonconsecutive Friday mornings in the fall/winter from 9:30-noon culminating with a class potluck on the last day. Past participants have felt it was a great way to get to know their immigrant neighbors, to expand professional and personal networks, and to build cross-cultural skills.
