The Minnesota Council of Churches is proud to sponsor Minnesota FoodShare, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches.
The March Minnesota FoodShare Campaign annually mobilizes 2,500 congregations, businesses, schools, and civic organizations to collect food and money to support the more than 300 food shelves who serve individuals and families with the food that they need.
Every dollar that is raised during the March Campaign is dedicated to purchasing food. When a food shelf uses a dollar to purchase food from a regional Second Harvest Food Bank, the quantity of food that they can access is amazing. In fact, 12 million pounds of food and dollars(the same amount collected in March 2009) can be turned into more than 34.3 million pounds of food for families who come to foodshelves in Minnesota --- that’s more than ½ of all of the food distributed throughout the entire year.
